A Compass for Navigating Sleep Health in Children 0-5 years.

  • This module will teach you everything you need to know about the science of sleep-in children and how it changes in the first five years of life. We start all the way at the beginning and explore how a baby’s sleep system develops in utero and beyond. We explore the different factors that can impact sleep biology and the unique sleep print of children. This module is the foundation module on which the other modules will be built.

  • There is more to sleep than sleep and in this module you will find out why. In Module II, we review all the dimensions of pediatric sleep health and how to assess these dimensions in your consultations. We will discuss the factors that impact all the dimensions of pediatric sleep health.

  • This module explores sleep health in the first year of a child’s life. We review the evidence around sleep and factors like temperament, attachment, nutrition, and development. We discuss co-sleeping, safe sleeping and the very important topic of child sleep and maternal health.

  • This module builds on the Infant Sleep Health module to look at how development interacts with sleep health in the rapid years of growth and development for children between 1-5 years old.

  • This module teaches sleep consultants about breathing issues that can impact sleep and how to address these issues when working with families.

  • This module focuses on movement disorders during sleep and behaviors that arise from partial awakenings in children.

  • There are several medical conditions that can impact sleep and sometimes children with these conditions, as well as the conditions in Module V and Module VI can appear to have behavioral sleep issues. This module teaches you some of the signs to look for and what to do about it.

  • Now that we have reviewed all the non-behavioral sleep issues - let’s look at behavioral sleep issues and review the sleep health data on this topic!

  • I love all modules in this program but this one holds a special place in my heart. Children with neurodiversity are particularly at risk for poor sleep health. In this module, we review the sleep health in children with neurodiversity as well as the evidence that supports sleep approaches and strategies to support their sleep health.

  • From melatonin and magnesium to essential oils and weighted blankets - this module is your guide to questions parents may have about readily available sleep supplements, aids and medications. As we do in all the modules, we discuss the evidence that supports their use in kids.
